Measles outbreak declared on Merseyside

A measles outbreak has been declared on Merseyside. There are 13 confirmed and 16 suspected cases ranging in age from nine months to adults aged in their 20s. Six people, four children and two adults, required treatment in hospital. This compares to just one confirmed case on Merseyside in the first six weeks of 2011 and one in the corresponding period of 2010.

Update on Legionnaires’ Cluster Associated with a Hotel in Spain

10 February 2012, 1400hrs. The Health Protection Agency (HPA) has this week been alerted by the Spanish public health authorities about a further case of Legionnaires’ Disease in a UK resident who stayed at the Diamante Beach Hotel in Calpe, Costa Blanca, as well as two French cases. This brings the total number of UK residents associated with this cluster to 12, with three deaths.

The surgery is open at the following times

Wednesday:	8.00am - 6.00pm
Thursday:	8.00am - 6.00pm
Friday:	8.00am - 6.00pm
Weekend:	Closed

Phones open at 8am, doors open 8.15am.

Extended Hours

We offer routine GP appointments from 6.30pm until 8pm on Mondays, and from 6.30pm until 7.45pm on a Wednesday.These appoinments are designed for patients who find it difficult to attend for non-urgent matters during normal opening hours, and can only be pre-booked in advance during normal surgery hours. For urgent out of hours care,the emergency out of hours service will be operating as before.

We do not close for lunch.

When is my Doctor available?

Half Day afternoons:
Dr Scott Tuesday
Dr Gent Wednesday
Dr Holmes Wednesday
Dr Hohnsbein Thursday

Dr Wearmouth is part time and is available all day Monday and Wednesday and the first and third Tuesday morning s of each month, and every Tuesday after bank holidays.

Wednesday, Thursday and Fridays, plus Monday and Tuesday afternoons alternate weeks.

These days may change if doctors are on annual or study leave.

Do surgeries run on time?

Not always! We offer 10 minute appointments which may not be enough for some problems. We always try to keep you informed of any significant delay eg if the doctor is called to an emergency
